Background

     Bryan and Barbara Barfoot have been small business owners and operators on Manitoulin since the early 1980's. Their desire to promote Timberstone Shores to an international clientele sparked an early interest in the Internet. After watching its development and the massive expansion of the World Wide Web, further investigation was conducted to determine the cost effectiveness of this medium. Achieving the maximum benefit from each advertising dollar is a challenge familiar to all business people. Traditional methods of media advertising should continue to be an element of any promotion. However, these methods can become cost prohibitive when one tries to reach a market that is global in nature. The more we learned about the World Wide Web, the stronger our inclination became to establish a presence on the Internet.

     After numerous seminars, home study sessions and HTML programming courses, we found ourselves totally in control of designing, developing and implementing our own World Wide Web site. Although the road was not smooth, the result has been rewarding. Our efforts culminated in the creation of a new enterprise, NET EFFECT MARKETING.
