Annual Journey to Bethlehem brings out largest numbers in recent years

MINDEMOYA—The Our Lady of Canada Catholic Church in Mindemoya was full Friday and Saturday night, as over 450 individuals lined up to take part in the annual Journey to Bethlehem, a multi-denominational, family oriented outdoor presentation of the Christmas story organized collectively by the churches of Mindemoya.

“It was an awesome year for the walk,” said organizer Monic Shaw. “We had the best weather in recent years and a great turn out.”

There were over 80 costumed volunteers who participated in this year’s production, in addition to many more behind the scene volunteers assisting with sets and costumes.

Participants enjoyed the unique experience of travelling back in time and being guided on an interactive walk to Bethlehem to see Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus.

Every year the event brings individuals from across the North to experience the real story of Christmas and this year was no exception, bringing people from not only every corner of Manitoulin, but also Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie.
