MINDEMOYA—Central Manitoulin Fire Department responded to a fire at about 4:10 pm Sunday afternoon three kilometres east of Mindemoya. The home was unoccupied at the time of the blaze.

All six trucks in Manitoulin’s largest fire department attended the scene, which was the former home of the late Ron Tann.

John Reid, Central Manitoulin fire chief, told The Expositor in a Monday interview the cause of the fire is unknown, but the Ontario Fire Marshal will not be called in to investigate. The home has been declared a total loss, with the crews battling the blaze until about 9:30 pm Sunday night.

“We needed everything we had yesterday,” Mr. Reid said.
