MANITOULIN – For the past few years, Spring Bay Pentecostal Church has offered a grief share support group for those who have lost a loved one. The grief share program is a 13-week video series that meets in the church’s fellowship hall at 9351 Hwy 542 in Spring Bay on Thursday evenings from 7 to 9 pm.

This program is run by volunteers—each who have themselves experienced the loss of a loved one.

The grief share program is a faith-based program and every participant on the video presentation has lost a close family member and speaks to their feelings of grief in a very personal way.

There is no registration fee but all participants in the grief share support group would benefit from purchasing a workbook for $25 which is helpful in leading them in a daily devotional exercise to help them heal from their grief. If it is a hardship to purchase the workbook, financial assistance will be considered.

During this period of the pandemic, many loved ones have died and due to the COVID restrictions, it has been especially difficult to have closure and to come to terms with one’s grief and loss. For that reason, Pastor Dan Thompson and the grief share volunteers from Spring Bay Pentecostal Church are hosting another 13-week session of grief share beginning September 10 and concluding on December 10 with a special session of ‘surviving the holidays.’

If you would like to participate or know of someone who would benefit from this support group to help deal with loss, please call Spring Bay Pentecostal Church at 705-377-5060 and reserve a place or leave a message.
