MANITOULIN— When you’re visiting, or living, on the world’s largest freshwater island, it’s important to get out and enjoy all that water has to offer and Mindemoya’s newest business, Island Adventure Sport Rentals, can help you do just that.

Island Adventure Sport Rentals is the brainchild of Ashley Keller and, with the help of her husband Ryan, has made numerous watersports accessible for everyone. The business offers rentals in paddleboards, water tubes for boating fun, water skis, kayaks, canoes, personal watercraft and even hot tubs. Island Adventure Sport Rentals also offers bicycles and kites.

There are different rental rates, whether it’s a weekday or weekend rental, with overnights available too.

Thanks to the Kellers’ central location of Mindemoya, the pair also offers delivery services with a small delivery charge for anywhere beyond a 10 km radius of their home-based business and are willing to bring their goods Island-wide. The one exception is the personal watercraft, which must be delivered by the business for insurance purposes. Island Adventure Sport Rentals can also issue temporary boat operator licences which last as long as the rental.

The couple is also “playing around” with the idea of expanding Island Adventure Sport Rentals to winter rentals such as cross-country skis and snowshoes.

Mr. Keller explained that he and his wife always “go over everything with a fine tooth comb” with customers, making sure that everyone is comfortable with their rental.
