Manitoulin Pet Rescue blooms with new bulb and plant fundraiser

MANITOULIN—Manitoulin Pet Rescue is holding a spring fundraiser, selling Vesey bulbs and seeds with 50 percent of the profits going to the organization.

“The funds will be going directly to the animals, helping with veterinarian costs, food and other supplies,” explained Julie McDermid of Manitoulin Pet Rescue, a not-for-profit Manitoulin based group.

Cyndi Vilkarsis, a volunteer with Manitoulin Pet Rescue explained that the bulb and plant catalogue is available at Kat’s Pet Supplies in Mindemoya, Buie’s in Spring Bay, The Expositor office in Little Current and online through the Manitoulin Pet Rescue Facebook page. The deadline for orders is Saturday, April 22.

“Manitoulin Pet Rescue is a volunteer operated, not-for-profit charitable organization,” said Ms. McDermid. “It is foster based across Manitoulin from Little Current to Evansville. Once a dog or cat goes through intake, it has a vet check up and medical care is provided. The animal is then matched with a foster home on the Island before we find them permanent forever homes.”

Manitoulin Pet Rescue opened its doors in September of 2015. To learn more about the organization visit Manitoulin Pet Rescue on Facebook. For more information about the fundraiser or to purchase bulbs or plants contact Cyndi Vilkarsis at 249-777-3016 or cyndicat@live.ca.
