LITTLE CURRENT—LAMBAC will be hosting the biennial Manitoulin Trade Fair from Friday, May 26 to Sunday, May 28 at the Little Current Recreation Centre. With over 120 exhibitors, the best of Manitoulin and LaCloche businesses will be under one roof.

This year’s Trade Fair will kick off at 4:45 pm on Friday, May 26 with the opening ceremonies, followed by the doors opening to the public from 5 pm until 9 pm.

“New this year, there will be a fashion show on Friday night at 7 pm, showcasing Island fashions from businesses across Manitoulin,” said Mike Addison, LAMBAC general manager, noting that it will be hosted by former Miss Manitoulin Katie Harper. “We also have a lot of new vendors and many returning ones—our exhibit spaces are sold out.”

Also new this year will be free kids face painting on Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm and on Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm and Hug-a-Tree, a search and rescue program, which will run throughout the weekend.

“We have lots of food vendors once again this year,” said Mr. Addison, “including the Anchor Inn Hotel in the curling club, which is also licenced.”

There will be a number of demonstrations including: Tai chi at 11:30 pm and 1:30 pm on Saturday; Zumba on Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 pm; programing from 4elements Living Arts on Saturday at 12 pm; and a presentation from the Great Spirit Circle at 1 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

“Our expectation is for 8,000 to 10,000 people to attend the Trade Fair throughout the weekend,” said Mr. Addison. “It should be a great weekend and great for the businesses. On the Island there are so many small communities and people don’t always get to visit their neighbouring communities and see all of what Manitoulin has to offer.”

The Manitoulin Trade Fair will run Friday, May 26 from 5 pm to 9 pm, Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm and Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm. Admission is $5 a day and is free for children 12 and under.
