WIKWEMIKONG—Miss Manitoulin 2015-2016 Brittany Manitowabi has released her first single ‘Field of Dreams’ through Musique Nomade.
“I recorded the song I wrote, ‘Field of Dreams,’ with Musique Nomade when they were in Wikwemikong at the beginning of the summer,” Brittany told The Expositor. “I play guitar, but I just did the vocals on the track because they had an amazing producer/musician who played lead guitar for me. It was a great opportunity.”
Musique Nomade not only released her track, but also a video of her recording, both of which are available on the organization’s website, www.musiquenomade.com/#!/brittany-manitowabi.”
You can also listen to ‘Field of Dreams’ on Soundcloud at https://soundcloud.com/musiquenomade/sets/brittany-manitowabi.
Brittany performed the song at both the Miss North Ontario pageant this past spring where she placed second in the talent portion of the competition and at the Miss Manitoulin pageant where she was awarded the title.
“The video of me performing at Miss North Ontario was circulating on Facebook and Crystal Shawanda saw it and contacted me,” shared Brittany. “She asked me if I would send her some of my music and she said she would work with me to get me a grant to travel to Nashville and record with her label New Sun Records. It is a pretty awesome opportunity, but everything is still up in the air right now.”
Nineteen-year-old Brittany is heading into her second year at Laurentian University for social work.
