Three running for Wiiky ogimaa position

WIIKWEMKOONG – As of July 9, three names for Wiikwemkoong ogimaa will remain on the ballot—incumbent Duke Peltier, Rose Shawanda and Terry Spanish (Otosquaiob). Mr. Peltier has held the position of chief since 2012.

There are 38 seeking election for the 12 positions around the council table. They are Dallas Bondy, John (Zhaabediis) Dube (incumbent), Harold Fox, Bernadine A. Francis (incumbent), Raymond J.F. Jackson, Christopher (Shidock) Johnston, Adam Kaboni, Jessie Kaboni, Marilyn S. Kimewon, Daryl King, David Joseph Francis Lavallee, Dante Lewis, Margaret (Tish) Manitowabi (incumbent), Rachel E. Manitowabi (incumbent), Rolanda Manitowabi, T. Lloyd McGregor, Tim Ominika (incumbent), Jason P. Oshkabewisens, Jean Oshkabewisens (Trudeau), Matthew Oshkabewisens, Roland I. Pangowish, Brian D. Peltier (incumbent), Chuck Peltier, Jason (JP) Peltier, Owen Peltier, Richard Peltier, Sylvia Recollet (incumbent), Tracy Recollet (Cleland), Natalie Shawana, Robert (Robbie) Shawana, Armando Shawanda, Marcia Trudeau-Bomberry (incumbent), Sheri Wabanosse, Joseph M. The Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory election will take place on Saturday, August 15.
