View the solar eclipse August 21 at Gordon’s Park

TEHKUMMAH—Head to Tehkummah on Monday, August 21 for a once-in-a-lifetime experience when the solar eclipse darkens the skies at Gordon’s Park Ecotourism Resort.

“We have a number of solar eclipse viewing glasses that we will be handing out to people attending this day’s event,” said Gordon’s Park Ecotourism Resort proprietor Rita Gordon. “Our telescope will be equipped with a special solar filter so you will be able to look at the sun directly through it.”

“We will also be able to look at a livestreamed video through a solar telescope courtesy of Royal Astronomy Society of Canada member Francois Van Heerden.”

As part of the event, Gordon’s Park Ecotourism Resort will be offering a create your own eclipse crafts station. Paint the stages of the eclipse on wooden circles to create a keepsake of the event. Face painting and treats are also available for the kids (and the young at heart).

The cost to attend the solar eclipse event is $15/person or $35/family plus tax. The event will be held from 1 to 4 pm. Due to the popularity of the event, Gordon’s Park is asking that anyone interested please register in advance by calling 705-859-2470.
