Wikwemikong High School students gear up for Rezfest this Friday

Students in the Wikwemikong High School business music course perform in the band Jordan and Friends as part of the program’s REZ FEST (2014).

WIKWEMIKONG— Wikwemikong High School students are getting ready for Rezfest 2015, a concert featuring area bands and artists, this Friday at the Wikwemikong Thunderdome (arena), organized by the school’s Music Business class.

This is the third year for the concert and was originally started by Wikwemikong High School’s Music Business class, a program in conjunction with Coalition Music from Toronto, as the class end-of-the semester project, but has now grown to a community-wide concert.

Not only will Rezfest be featuring arts from the class and community this year, but special musical guests from Sudbury and Toronto too.

Rezfest will get underway Friday night with a performance from the Outside Looking In Wikwemikong High School dancers.

Brian Simon and Wiky 3 will hit the stage at 6:30 pm, followed by Rural Roots at 7 pm. MJ Stellar will be on next at 7:30 pm, followed by Jordan and Friends at 7:50 pm, Decades Apart at 8:15 pm, Maryan, Kira and Cody at 8:40 pm, Angela Saini at 9 pm, Eric Smallbear and VYB$ at 9:30, followed by Cywink and H-Manit, Northern Union at 9:55 pm and Sudbury hip hop star M.O Littles at 10:25 pm.

“We are excited for a great evening of amazing music,” said Music Business teacher Jason Thibault. “Be sure to come out and check out the great lineup.”

Tickets are $10 each and available from students or at the school. VIP packages are also available at a cost of $30.
