MANITOWANING—The 2nd annual Knox United Church Charity Golf Tournament held this summer raised a total of $10,500, $1,500 more than last year. The funds were shared between local charities in the Manitoulin community and the Knox building fund on Sunday, August 28 at Knox United Church.
Close to 200 businesses, individuals and golfers donated money, their time or their talents to make the tournament a success. Manitowaning Mill Home Building Centre was the Title Sponsor again this year.
Half of the proceeds were shared between the following charitable organizations: Assiginack Horticulture Society, Burns Wharf Theatre Group, building renovation fund, Manitoulin Navy League-Vimy Ridge trip, Manitoulin Family Resources, Manitoulin Health Centre-Little Current Auxiliary, Manitoulin Special Olympics, Manitowaning Minor Hockey, Manitowaning Agriculture Society, Manitowaning Fixing our Felines, 1st Manitowaning Girl Guides, Manitowaning Library, digital consortium fees, Michael’s Bay Historical Society and St. Paul’s Anglican Church- Building and Maintenance Fund.
The 3rd annual Knox Charity Golf Tournament is scheduled for Tuesday, July 11, 2017. Registration at the Rainbow Ridge Golf Course begins at 9 am followed by a 10 am shotgun start. Tickets are $110 which includes, golf, half the cart, goodie bag, water, box lunch, dinner and passport for inclusion in all contests and prizes. Discounts are provided for members and those with their own carts. A $25 charitable donation receipt will be issued to all golfers. Players paying by July 5, 2017 will be entered into a draw for one of four free tickets for the 2018 tournament.
