Letter: You “can” build a Tim Hortons, but that doesn’t mean you should

Regrettable that the impact on local business and Island uniqueness can be easily discounted

To the Expositor:

“Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.” I would encourage the developer of the proposed Tim Horton’s Little Current location to consider this adage.

In 2019, for the second year in a row, Tim Horton’s was named Canada’s top plastic polluter (https://www.cbc.ca/news/technology). Given that we already see plenty of Tim Horton’s garbage on our roadways, are those who support this development willing to help keep this in check?

How regrettable that the impact on our local businesses and the uniqueness of this Island are so easily discounted.

Surely there are enough like-minded Islanders who agree that, quite simply, Manitoulin Island does not need a Tim Hortons. Period.
