Mustangs host North Shore volleyball championships

M’CHIGEENG—The senior boys’ Mustang volleyball team has gone undefeated this season and hopes to continue that trend today, Wednesday, as they host the North Shore Secondary Schools Athletics Association (NSSAA) championships at Manitoulin Secondary School.

Coach Pete Kategiannis reported to The Expositor his team’s perfect 15-0 score to finish the regular season last week.

The Mustangs are set to play today at 10 am and again at 1:30 pm. If they take the four-team NSSAA championship, the ‘Stangs will host the Northern Ontario Secondary School Athletics tournament the following week.

This isn’t the first time the Mustang boys’ volleyball team has gone undefeated in regular season play.

“It used to be common,” the coach told The Expositor, “but we haven’t done it in four years.”

This year’s team is comprised of Devon Gelaznikas, Parker Dickinson, Greg Doane, Zack Kategiannis, Tait Wallace, James Scott, Matthew Redmond, Bryce Draper, Brandon Boyle and Cole King.
