MINDEMOYA—The first meeting of the Island Quilters Guild 2016-17 season will be held on September 22 at the Central Manitoulin Community Hall in Mindemoya at 7 pm. Special guest will be Connie Sue Haidle, owner of Apple Blossom Quilts in Webster City, Iowa.
Ms. Haidle, her husband and dog spend significant time each year travelling around the country in their fifth wheel, with Ms. Haidle giving trunk shows and workshops. The Guild is fortunate to have Ms. Haidle come to Manitoulin to do a Trunk Show on the September 22 and a workshop on the 23rd.
“Apple Blossom Quilts began in 2004 and is dedicated to providing quilting enthusiasts with high quality applique patterns so they can succeed at this artistic form of stitching and enjoy stunning results,” says Ms. Haidle on her website appleblossomquilts.com. A peruse around her site wets the appetite for the trunk show she will be bringing. A little bird spoke of some of her patterns being given out at the trunk show. All are welcome to attend. The cost for the trunk show for non members is $5. Members yearly fee of $25 gives them this trunk show and many other benefits during the quilt year. New members are always welcome.
The Friday, September 23 workshop will be from 9 am to 3:30 pm at the Sandfield Hall. Ms. Haidle will be teaching her methods of hand applique for different levels of expertise so you would find it helpful if you are a beginner or experienced. The cost is $40. Ms. Haidle is providing some materials at a cost of $20. If you are interested in this workshop, contact Lauren MacDonald at email@example.com or 705-283-1212.
