In loving memory of Laura Scott, a resident of Spring Bay, who died at the Mindemoya Hospital on Friday, September 5, 2014 at the age of 85 years. She was born in Toronto, daughter of the late Albert and Elizabeth (Kay) Phippen. Her family moved to Port Sydney and later Huntsville. Laura graduated from Guelph University in 1953, and took a position with the Department of Agriculture. Her territory included Manitoulin where she met and married John William Scott in 1960. Together they raised five children. She was an active member of Salem Church in Spring Bay. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with friends and nothing made her happier than being surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Laura was always up for a game of euchre or her next road trip. Laura was predeceased by her beloved husband John on September 17, 2007. Loving and loved mother of Rob and his wife Karlene of Mindemoya, Elizabeth (husband Bert Dionne) of Sudbury, Douglas and David of Lively and Katie (husband Jim McNulty) of Kenora. Proud grandmother of Meghan, Sara, Brodie, John, Laura and Rachel. Dear sister of Jack (predeceased) (wife Florence), Harold (predeceased) (wife Marie), Margaret Phippen, and Gordon (wife Alma). Laura will be missed by sister-in-law Maria McDermid (Ken predeceased), and Fred and Margaret Scott. Predeceased by in-laws Ted and Marie Scott, Beatrice and Charles Beange, Jack and Lottie Mae McDonald, and Bill and Margie Blackburn. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends called at the Culgin Funeral Home, Gore Bay after 7 pm on Monday, September 8, 2014. The funeral service was conducted at Spring Bay Pentecostal Church, Spring Bay on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 2 pm with Pastor Allan Wilkinson of the Salem Missionary Church officiating.
