There were holdups over the course of two days last week as crews installed new solar-powered pedestrian crossing lights on either side of the sidewalk portion of the swing bridge. The setup caused hourly delays and some consternation as Ontario 511 incorrectly reported that the swing bridge was fully closed

Saturday fire razes Silver Water home

On May 2, a fire destroyed a Silver Water home (formerly Robinson School #1). Firefighters from two departments used 16,000 gallons of water to douse the blaze. Owner Clayton Foster was away during the incident. The Ontario Fire Marshal and OPP are investigating the total loss.
