The regular monthly meeting of the MHC Auxiliary was held on November 3 in the Multi-Purpose Room.
The big news is that the Auxiliary has a rock under the Tree of Life, provided by the Manitoulin Health Centre. The rock is in recognition of our purchase of the new TVs for the patients. Thank you to the MHC for the public display of service provided by the Auxiliary. It is our mandate to assist the MHC in every way possible in the interests of the best patient care.
Have you noticed the Auxiliary’s information on the roll around on the screens in the hospital? Hopefully, the information will not only educate you but also encourage you to become a member of a group that plays an important role at the Manitoulin Health Centre.
The Representative Reports were received. All is going well in all endeavours including the Showcase, Tuck Cart, HELPP Lottery, Coin Boxes, and the In Memoriam Fund. There’s always a way to support the Auxiliary.
Leona Sylvester has called every member to renew membership. To join, call Leona at 705-368-1709.
Once again, we are providing two donations of $500 to the Manitoulin Student Aid Fund. The presentations will be made by Doug Hore at MSS in December.
Fleece was purchased for the making of blankets as Christmas gifts to patients in hospital at Christmas time. Help would be appreciated in the cutting and tying to make them. If you can lend a hand call Marilee (705-368-2547) or June (705-368-3654). The project will begin soon.
On November 24, at Ladies’ Night in Little Current, a variety of ornaments and surprise bags were sold. Once again, the public was supportive. On November 26, the annual Cookie Walk was held in the Anglican Church hall. Many went home with their Christmas baking done. Thank you for the donations of cookies. The sale was successful with sales of almost $700.
On December 1, many members met at Elliott’s Restaurant for the auxiliary Christmas Dinner. It was a fun time being with other members in a social setting.
Memory Tree ornaments are now on sale at the Tuck Cart Room and also downtown when volunteers are available. The Memory Tree has a special place in the area around Admitting and in the hearts of those who remember their loved ones. We have new ornaments this year in addition to the stained glass ornaments. They are on wooden discs, painted by Duncan Pheasant. One side has a Christmas motif. The other side has a variety of paintings including animals, birds etc. They are ready to be hung.
We extend our condolences and offer our support to our president, Elaine Moore and the Moore family on the passing of Mildred Moore.
The next regular meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 5, 2017. You are welcome to join us!
Enjoy peace, love and joy this Christmas. Best wishes for a safe, happy, healthy New Year!
