Ingrid Blay had a wonderful time in Germany visiting with family and friends. She had a busy schedule with two birthdays to attend and two to arrange and prepare for, but it was great seeing everyone together and lots of fun was had. Every town has Christmas markets with decorated stalls lining the cobblestone ways and squares that are filled with handmade and original items for sale. You can buy everything from yummy sweets and delicious foods to clothing and beautiful Christmas decorations. The best part is seeing all the lights strung overhead as you walk under a canopy of lights everywhere. Not to mention all the “Gluhwein” booths where you can savour a mug of hot spiced red wine with a shot of amaretto to warm your toes. The entire trip was great and memories were made.
Well, old man winter has certainly arrived and he did so before his officially scheduled date of December 21. It certainly came on quickly and it seemed to go from runners and hoodies to winter boots and parka within a week. The snowbanks are unusually high for this time of year.
Happy Belated Birthday wishes go out to Linda Gilchrist who celebrated on Saturday, December 16 and Jessie McDermid who celebrated on December 19.
ALERT: The Auberge Inn’s cat, Storm, is missing. She was last seen Monday evening December 12 by Sandy Sandercott. She is a friendly, large, short-haired grey cat with a white neck, a very round face and big saucer eyes. Peter and Janet Fathers adopted her when Nathalie and Allain moved. They had kept her inside for the last week. However she is used to being an outdoor cat, but she has not been seen going back to the garage at the Auberge Inn where she used to live either. We hope she is safe and warm in some kind person’s home! Please contact Peter and Janet Fathers if you know of her whereabouts. Thank you.
Barb and Chris Roberts motored over to Providence Bay to see the beautiful lights at our Village Square and then enjoyed a wonderful feast of ribs with Ingrid Blay her husband and Cheryl Sheppard. It was a nice pre Christmas gathering with good friends.
It’s certainly going to be a relief once the winter solstice also known as the longest day of the year passes. It will be so nice when there’s more daylight to enjoy.
Christmas Day will soon be upon us. Warmest wishes of the season go out from us to all of you. Don’t forget that we’d love to hear about your Christmas visits and visitors.
