EVANSVILLE—The second annual ‘Art in the Maples’ outdoor festival will showcase art, music, wellness and food!
“Last year’s festival was very successful and the feedback I we received was amazing. Everything turned out even better than I had anticipated,” stated Gail Andrews, organizer of the event taking place this weekend August 9-10 in Evansville (50 Indian Point Road, providing a spectacular scenic view of the bay).”
“We didn’t have the best weather last year, with rain in the morning,” said Ms. Andrews. “But no one seemed to care, and as one person said, ‘music and rain, just like Woodstock’.”
The annual festival features art, music, wellness and food. “We will have 40 plus artists on hand, including sculptors, painters, weavers, glass and fibre artists, photographers, potters, jewellers, mixed media and so much more,” explained Ms. Andrews.
“We have many musicians on hand so there will be live music full-time, both days, and this year we have a professional sound manager, Mark Mallett on hand,” said Ms. Andrews. “In fact, we had to turn down a couple of musicians who wanted to perform at the festival.”
The musicians on Saturday will include Ricardo Chavez, Marcus White, Marty Rosen and Missy’s Groovy Little Band, while performers on Sunday will include George Williamson and Cole Hughson, Ellie Maxwell, Ricardo Chavez Marty Rosen, Chris Walker and The Swing Bridge Ramblers.
Wellness practitioners Melane Blain of Pure Relaxation Studio and Kate Kopylova of Raindrop Harmony Manitoulin will be among several wellness practitioners.
Parking is available for about 70 cars, on site, and include handicapped parking spots.
There will also be three vendors on hand for the weekend event, which is free. Master of ceremonies for the festival will be Ron Whittick.
