Board members
Tom Imrie, representing West End Manitoulin on the Manor board, resigned from his role on both the Billings council and from the Manor board. A replacement representative has not yet been named.
The board welcomed Aurel Rivet to the board. Mr. Rivet will be filling the long-time vacant seat on the board—one of two government-appointed seats.
Administrator’s report
The board reviewed Manor administrator Michelle Bond’s report, as she was away and sent her regrets.
The home is operating at 99.68 percent vacancy, with 25 applicants on the waiting list.
It was also reported that 15 PSW shifts had to be filled from the nursing agency as the part-time position had not yet been filled at the home.
The fall and winter food menu has been implemented and the budget was not finished quite yet, and would be presented at the next board meeting.
The residents’ Christmas party is scheduled for December 10, while the staff party is scheduled for December 3. The Christmas meal for residents and their families is going to be a lunch this year held on December 17.
Fundraising
Board member Wendy Gauthier gave an update on the Manor’s fundraising campaign. She was pleased to report that the second annual Tree of Lights was underway and going well. She encouraged board members to ‘like’ the posts on the Manor’s new Facebook page. The Tree of Lights campaign is currently at $4,320, while the Calling on You campaign for a new call bell system for the Manor is sitting at $88,156.02.
“Plans for the gala (the Golden Gala Fundraiser) are underway,” said Ms. Gauthier. “Be sure to save the date for the gala on May 6 in Little Current. The Northeast Town has donated the cost of the recreation centre hall. We are very grateful for this generous donation.”
The board reviewed the new logo for the Manor, which Ms. Gauthier explained was designed by artist Beth Bond and The Expositor. The board carried a motion to approve the logo.
Next meeting
The next Manor meeting was scheduled for Thursday, December 15.
