Little Current United Church Pastoral Charge, along with United Church congregations nationally, celebrated the centennial of the United Church of Canada in June. Part of the Little Current United Church’s celebration was a dessert tea in late June where fashions from the past century (and before) were arrayed in the church hall and appreciated by the large attendance. Funds raised that day were earmarked for a donation to the chemo room at the Mindemoya site of the Manitoulin Health Centre, an initiative that had been a work-in-progress by the Little Current United Church Women (UCW) organization just prior to the pandemic that halted events like this. Former Little Current UCW members gathered last week at the church to present MHC CEO Paula Fields, right, with a $1,000 donation collectively raised from the proceeds of the dessert tea and private donation. From left, they are Helen Gordon, Myrna Ferguson and Diana Parrill (who organized the exhibits for the dessert tea).
