Gore Bay Santa Claus Parade draws huge crowds to one of the best parades yet
The Chaytor family float, “Snow People,” took third place in the 2019 Gore Bay Santa Claus parade.

The Gore Bay Santa Claus Parade drew a huge crowd on a beautiful evening last Saturday night and brought together one of, if not the best collection of floats ever assembled for the annual event.

To get everyone in the spirit of things, a Christmas tree lighting ceremony was held prior to the big event, with Gore Bay Councillor Leeanne Woestenenk doing the honours of turning on the lights on the tree. And to warm up all those in attendance Manitoulin Coffee Co. provided free coffee and hot chocolate.

Then it was on to the parade itself, which drew around 20 floats. The collection of floats entered was among the most creative and colourful that the annual parade has had in a long time. No doubt it was difficult for judges Connor Woestenenk and Selena Bentley to judge the best from the parade.

Taking first place for best float entry was the Shauna and Rob Dearing and family gang entry, ‘Let’s Get Frosted.’

Second place went to the Island Promotional Products Transformers entry, while third place went to the Chaytor family, Snow People float.
