M’CHIGEENG—Kenjgewin Teg is proud to announce its designation as an official test site for the new Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC), which has replaced the General Educational Development (GED) high school equivalency program in Canada. By hosting CEC testing, Kenjgewin Teg provides a valuable opportunity for individuals in the region to access a high-quality, Canadian-developed education qualification that supports further education, training, and employment opportunities.

“Being a test site for the CAEC is our first step in supporting access to expanding learning; going forward, based on the actual usage and demand for the CAEC by learners in the upcoming year, Kenjgewin Teg may consider expanding its role in this new credential, in addition to being a test location,” shared Beverley Roy, president. “In prior years, as one of several pathways to post-secondary education, Kenjgewin Teg supported students interested in attaining the GED credential, and we will assess if a similar need exists for the CAEC.”

The CAEC is designed for adults who have not obtained a high school diploma but require an official credential to demonstrate high school-level knowledge and skills. In Ontario, candidates who successfully complete the CAEC will receive an Ontario High School Equivalency Certificate. The assessment consists of five subject areas: writing, reading, mathematics, social studies and science. To pass the CAEC and earn their equivalency certificate, candidates must achieve a minimum score of 55 percent on each of the five tests.
To be eligible to take the CAEC, individuals must be residents of Ontario and at least 18 years of age. This program is an excellent option for individuals who are currently employed and need proof of high school equivalency for career advancement or for those who wish to pursue college, apprenticeship, or other post-secondary education opportunities.

Those interested in writing the CAEC can register through the TVO Independent Learning Centre website at www.ilc.org.caec. During the registration process, candidates can select Kenjgewin Teg as their preferred test site. Once a request has been received from TVO, a site administrator will contact registrants to schedule their testing session.
