M.S.S. Kids in the Halls

I hope all fathers, grandfathers and uncles had a wonderful Father’s Day! How many of you had to cook your own meal on your new barbecue?

A correction from last week’s column: Amber Wiwchar also competed at OFSAA at Guelph University from June 6 to 8. Amber competed in the 3000m and placed 20th. Way to go, Amber!

This week, students taking Grade 9 math this semester wrote the EQAO (Education Quality and Accountability Office) assessment.

Friday, June 21 is the first day of summer! It may not have been that warm so far this spring but there may now be some hope of a bit warmer weather to come! A summer joke for you:

Bob went for a job at a sunscreen factory but didn’t get it. He’s going to reapply.

Exams are right around the corner! They will be taking place from Friday, June 21 to Wednesday, June 26. The exam schedule has been given to the students and is based on the daily class schedule. Students, please make sure you study for your exams! Grade 9 and 10 students have the possibility of being exempted from their exams based on a few sets of criteria.

The Grade 12 graduation is on Thursday, June 27 at 7 pm in the MSS cafeteria. Mark the date on your calendar, you don’t want to miss it! Congratulations to all graduates!

The renovations at the school are still in progress. The new library in C corridor is open for the students. The new library has a very open and inviting feeling to it. Lots of students have already found themselves in there at lunch working on their final projects or sitting in a comfy chair with a good book. The guidance office has also been temporarily moved. It is just across the hall from its normal position in A corridor. Many more renovations will take place over the summer holidays.

Grade 10 Literacy Test results are in! Students were able to pick up their results last week on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Places for the WE Day trip to Toronto in September are already being filled! If you are interested in going on the trip in September, please speak to Ms. Bauer before the end of this school year.

Joke of the week: Since there has been so many bugs out this spring… What is a mosquito’s favorite sport? Skin diving!

Upcoming events include, exams, graduation, summer holidays and more!

Until next time, “Dream and Believe. Learn and Achieve!
