NEMI held a volunteer appreciation night on April 22 at the Little Current Curling Club. Mayor Al MacNevin thanked the attendees for their hard work in making the community a better place to live. Volunteers, including Legion members, enjoyed a luncheon prepared by coordinator Lisa Hallaert.
LITTLE CURRENT—The Little Current Curling Club was packed with a very special group of people on the evening of Wednesday, April 22 as the Town of Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands (NEMI) held a volunteer appreciation night.
“We really appreciate you guys coming,” said Northeast Town Mayor Al MacNevin, taking a break from handing out drink tickets. “Volunteers are not just the source of the event, making sure they happen, it’s fair to say that I see the same faces for just about every event I attend in Little Current, or in NEMI itself as I go around the community, so I know that you guys work very hard to make ours a good community to live in and a nice place to stay. Thank you again on behalf of council for coming out—now go stuff your faces with the luncheon.”
