The Mindemoya hospital site has fully reopened after a community flood-related infrastructure failure forced a "Code Grey" closure. Following a phased approach, the emergency department and all services are now operational. This follows a difficult spring, including a previous sprinkler malfunction.
MINDEMOYA—Manitoulin Health Centre’s Mindemoya site reopened on April 22 at 8 pm following its closure due to sewer and water issues that resulted in a Code Grey.
A “Code Grey” in hospitals and health facilities typically signifies a critical infrastructure failure or loss of essential services. It is activated when systems like water, power, HVAC, or IT networks fail, hindering patient care.
“We’re pleased to share that the Mindemoya Emergency Department will reopen Wednesday, April 22 at 8 pm following the recent Code Grey,” announced the hospital. Noting that “services will resume in a phased approach.
