To celebrate the joyous season this year, NEMI Public Library will host its first Christmas Coffeehouse on Thursday, December 19 from 2 in the afternoon until our 8 pm closing.

A number of entertainers will go on throughout the event. For young families, from 2 until 4 o’clock, local author and wordsmith, Kate Thompson, will read from her books including a special Christmas story.

Open mic will take place from 6 till 8 pm for anyone wishing to share talents of music, singing, poetry, dub, rap, comedy or short readings. Paul Allard will also be there with his smooth vocal stylings.

Warren Schlote will emcee the coffeehouse and provide live music on the keyboard throughout the afternoon.

Warren is a newly appointed member of the NEMI Public Library Board. A journalist, he writes for The Manitoulin Expositor. He graduated from the Guelph-Humber media studies program and moved to Little Current in summer 2018. Warren Schlote also brings his love of jazz music which we can all enjoy at the upcoming Christmas Coffeehouse.

Warren joins the hard working team of Library Board members who generously volunteer their time to ensure that our community has a top rate library. They are: Ned Martin, chair; Paula Hooper, vice chair; Maureen Armstrong, Rosemary Burnett, Nina Coates, Mike Easton, John Royal and Town Rep Laurie Cook.

Come and meet your friends, as well as library staff and Board members at the their first Christmas Coffeehouse, December 19, 50 Meredith Street West in Little Current. Open to all.
