Prov Bay Fowl Supper feeds over 350 hungry patrons
A fantastic supper! A huge crowd of 353 hungry patrons enjoyed the delicious fowl supper hosted by the Providence Bay Community Centre Board (PBCCB) with support from many volunteers who help put on the meal, on November 18. The annual event benefits the work of the community centre board in the community.

PROVIDENCE BAY—It is one of the many great Manitoulin Island traditions, one that always draws a huge crowd and an event that benefits the work of the Providence Bay Community Centre Board (PBCCB) in the community.

The annual PBCCB Fowl supper took place November 18. A huge crowd of 353 hungry patrons enjoyed the delicious turkey dinner meal with all the fixings.

PBCCB members MJ Gordon and Alex Baran took the lead on the event and were hugely assisted by all the volunteers who helped put on the meal, sponsors and donors. The two lead organizers started this past September, calling volunteers, ordering food and getting sponsors. The night before the supper a group of people showed up to peel potatoes and turnips. The day of the supper starts early with the turkey chef and the masher, the one who cooks the boatload of potatoes and turnips.

The event is like a well-oiled machine with seasoned volunteers coming in to serve food, work the assembly line for take out; there is a gravy expert, pie cutter, and cleaning crew. It is a marvel to watch and an honour to be a part of. And thank you to everyone that came and supported the supper!
