MANITOWANING—A couple of Wiikwemkoong men, who are relatives, each notched a hole in one at Rainbow Ridge Golf Course (RRGC) in Manitowaning within a one-week time frame.
Cousins Pierre Trudeau and Robert Trudeau both achieved every golfer’s dream, garnering aces. Pierre Trudeau notched his ace on Thursday, June 26, on the 11th hole at RRGC. “This is my second hole in one in the past three years,” he told The Expositor. “Unfortunately, I never saw the ball enter the hole on either of them.”
“On the one last Thursday (June 26) it was on the par three 11th hole, 182 yards,” said Pierre. “It was on the back tees, and the ball hit the middle of the green, and both my playing partners said the ball disappeared.”

“I took a video of my walk to the green,” Pierre said, pointing out his two playing partners were Denis Audette and Brian Corbiere, whom he golfs with every Thursday morning at RRGC. He is a former employee of RRGC, having retired from the golf industry in 2015. He added that his first ace was on the par three second hole at RRGC two years ago during a mixed golf tournament.
Robert Trudeau garnered his ace “on seniors’ men’s day on Canada Day (at RRGC) on the 16th hole. My playing partners had all shot—I was last to play—and I used an eight-iron for the 131 yard hole. I hit a baby draw, and it hit the green about eight feet in front of the pin and rolled in. None of us could see it actually drop due the bright sunshine.”
One of Robert’s playing partners got to the green first and found the ball in the hole. His playing partners included Bill Orr and Tom Richards.
“This was my second hole in one,” stated Robert. “The first came at the Men’s Senior Open tournament (RRGC) in 2020.” It came at the second hole about 139 yards.
