Glyophosate is associated with increased cancer risk

Our forests, gardens, parks and schoolyards are directly linked to our environment

To the Expositor:

The World Health Organization (WHO) said in 2015 that there is a cancer risk associated with glyphosate exposure.

First Nation leaders have rightly issued a ban on aerial herbicide spraying of glyphosate in my neck of the woods, which is the Temiskaming/Temagami regions. A truck carrying 600 litres of the chemical was spilled on Eagle Lake Road in the Temagami region on September 10, 2024. The Teme-Augama Anishnaabe leaders say the lives of their citizens are directly tied to the land.

Aren’t the forests, the gardens, the parks, the school yards and the fields surrounding our homes directly linked to the living environment surrounding us?

I would imagine the lives of Manitoulin residents and the creatures found on your beautiful Island are also tied to the health of the natural environment.

Thank you,

Sue Nielsen
