LITTLE CURRENT—On Tuesday evening, April 21, at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 177, a Navy League Cadet Corps for ages 9 to 11 was forming. The Legion Hall was filled with young people eager to learn about and sign up for this new organization.

Lt. (N) Sylvain Boucher, of the Manitoulin Sea Cadets opened the program, welcoming everyone and introducing his wife, Lt. (N) Tina Boucher, who will be leading the Navy League Cadet Corps as its commanding officer. Mr. Boucher spoke of the Cadet Corps as a family, informing the young people in attendance of the lasting friendships they will make. The Corps is truly a family affair for the Bouchers, as all the Boucher children came up through the Sea Cadets, their daughter becoming an officer as well.

A uniform was on display, and Mr. Boucher explained its various features and informed those registering for the Corps they would be receiving their uniforms in the fall. Mr. Boucher spoke of the many things these young cadets would learn—life skills, teamwork, community involvement and leadership skills, self-discipline and self-confidence, as well as the various activities in which they would take part.
