Katie Chapman, a 20-year-old nursing student from Little Current, has been elected Ontario Regional Director for the Canadian Nursing Students Association. Representing the province until 2027, she aims to bridge the gap between northern and southern schools and advocate for rural healthcare needs.
SUDBURY—A Laurentian University nursing student, who hails from Little Current, has been elected Ontario Regional Director for the Canadian Nursing Students Association (CNSA).
“I think I have a unique perspective to bring,” stated Katie Chapman. “I am from Northern Ontario, so I understand the concerns, issues and health challenges in a rural area.”
“I was elected at the 2026 CNSA national conference in Saskatoon,” said Ms. Chapman. “During the conference, I delivered a speech and engaged with delegates from across the country, sharing my perspective on student advocacy and the importance of representing northern and rural voices. Ontario delegates ultimately selected me to represent the province at both the provincial and national level.”
