The time is now for local politicians and bureaucrats to act
To the Expositor:
The inauguration of Donald Trump as president with his foolish promise of trade tariffs certainly highlights the crucial importance of your most timely editorial regarding the nonsense of inter-provincial trade barriers here in Canada (‘Inter-provincial trade takes on new importance with tariff threats,’ January 15, Page 4).
Let us hope and pray that local politicians and bureaucrats are paying attention and will act, at last, to get rid of long outdated rules and regulations which have such negative and damaging effects on our collective wellbeing! It will certainly take time to do the job but hopefully we have enough sense to start movement towards the obvious and necessary goal—the end of trade barriers here within Canada.
Sincerely,
Eric Balkind
