Unfortunate the letter writer didn’t see the editorial above his letter
To the Expositor:
My qualifications for responding to Paul Purvis’ letter (‘Writer recalls the heady days of John Lane’, Page 4, March 5, 2025) include teacher, preacher, lover of Manitoulin and usually a good-natured human being.
I appreciate the content of Paul’s letter of confidence in the election of the Conservative candidate to represent the riding of Manitoulin/Algoma and to bring to fruition the much-needed new bridge to Manitoulin.
However, as a consequence of my described qualifications, I was disappointed that his satisfaction in the election of Mr. Rosenberg , began with the salvo, “Through no credit to the Expositor…”
It is unfortunate that he was not able, before sending it, to see the polite tone of the editorial above his letter. Though “possibly” having a different political persuasion than Mr. Purvis, the editorial contained no rancour, but rather congratulated Mr. Rosenberg on his win, and wished him well. There was, admittedly, a tone of “wait and see” regarding the bridge, but I believe that would have been the stance no matter the successful candidate!
