It is with great sadness that the Long family says goodbye to their beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. Mary passed away June 11, 2012 at Humber River Regional Hospital in Toronto surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Mills Township, Manitoulin Island, Mary lived a full and blessed 86 years (or “39 and holding” as she would prefer) and will be remembered for her strength and courage, goodwill, community and volunteer work, kind spirit and sense of humour. Her legacy is carried on by her sons Thomas (Shirley), Terrence (Ruth) and daughter Susan. She was fondly adored and will be remembered by her six grandchildren; Michelle, Ryan, Aaron, Kristyn, Meaghan and Andrea, along with their families, including four great-grandchildren; Emily, Quinn, Piper and baby Logan. After 35 years Mary will reunite with her loving husband Orval Thomas John Long, as well as her parents Walter and Sarah (nee Bowser) and four siblings Herbert Wright, Jesse Wright, Ellen Sheppard and Maude Becks. Mary is survived by her sisters Fannie Woods and Joan Stewart. Visitation was held at Ward Funeral Home (Weston) on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 from 7 pm to 9 pm and Thursday, June 14, 2012 from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm.
