Police Seek Public's Assistance in Locating Wanted Individual

(ESPANOLA, ON) - The Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is seeking the public's assistance in locating an individual wanted in connection with an incident that resulted in serious injuries in Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation. 

On Thursday, March 26, 2026, at approximately 3:45 p.m., officers with the Anishinabek Police Service responded to a call in Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation. Upon arrival, officers located an individual with life-threatening injuries. The individual was transported to hospital.

As a result of the investigation, a warrant has been issued for the arrest of 33-year-old Anthony ESHKAKOGAN for aggravated assault in connection with this incident. His last known address is in the community of Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation.

Anthony ESHKAKOGAN is described as:

·      Approximately 5'10" (180 cm) 

·      200 lbs (91 kg) with a medium build

·      Brown eyes and black hair 

·      Tattoos on both arms, including a feather on left forearm, a bear and the word "BRAXTON" on right forearm

The Manitoulin OPP Crime Unit, in collaboration with the Anishinabek Police Service, is conducting the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
