I heard of a good recipe called Hankey Pankey; it’s served up at baby showers in Cincinnati. Seems fitting somehow?
Well there I was, standing in Ward’s Store, when my good friend Jean Livingston of Hamilton and her son Bill came in. I’m so pleased to see her. She has certainly inspired me with words of encouragement in her many beautiful cards I’ve received since my cancer diagnosis.
I met a handsome young couple named Samson and Delilah today. (I heard about them somewhere?)
Tonight I’m watching the Zoomer program on aging and living your best life. They say there are 7,000 people in Canada over 100. Good news for the older men; there are five women to one man.
Keep active, keep learning, keep playing, read, do puzzle games, keep socializing, eat well!
Heard from my boys today (Monday). Derek and Jodi have had a leisurely trip home exploring small places, ghost towns, watching scenery. They were in Grand Prairie visiting Tristan and his family. Kim has been canning and preserving, getting ready for their fall fair down Clarksburg way. (It may be in Thornbury?) He likes to beat the ladies out in some of “their” categories. “Toulin” too, has to have more surgery, something with the hips now. He’s not putting weight on his paw.
Cribbage results: High hand, Melissa and Lina, 24; first, Buck and Georgie, 944; second, Betty Jean and Bill, 938; third, Dorothy (A) and Lois, 935; low, Glenna and Ruth (McD), 802; door, Bert, Bill, Betty Jean and Jean.
Jean and I went to the Garden Shed for breakfast on Tuesday morning. We had a lovely catch-up visit. I even met Joe Louis afterwards.
I saw this black spot on the picture frame above my bed. The fly flew at ten to six this morning. At least it slept better than I did.
Happy birthday Mary (J)!
I just heard at cribbage on Wednesday of Nellie Thomas’ death. She was a long-time Sandfield resident, an apartment dweller in Tehkummah and the last few years TLC in Little Current. She was also a member of our “TOPS” group for many years. Sympathy to her family and friends.
Twice this week I was looking a young hummingbird in the eye. Matter of fact, its wing fluffed my eyebrow. (Now that I’ve got some!)
I just popped a banana cake in the oven for tonight’s euchre lunch.
Laurene gave me another jar of her good pickles. I had some with my chicken for breakfast.
Irene Montgomery gave me a beautiful crocheted doily with coloured flowers. I wasn’t to look at the gift until after cribbage, so I didn’t. I don’t have mid-week football withdrawal but there sure is something not quite right!
God Bless you all, and thank you to all who are so good to me.
