GORE BAY—Gore Bay council has now officially appointed Jason Quinlan as town manager/clerk for the town.
At a meeting last week, council officially passed bylaw number 2025-30, appointing Mr. Quinlan as the town manager/clerk for the town of Gore Bay effective June 2, 2025.
“I would like to thank everyone for their well wishes as I usher in my new position with the town of Gore Bay,” Mr. Quinlan told The Expositor. “The support and welcoming nature of mayor, council and staff has aided in the transition as I look forward to serving the townspeople of Gore Bay.”
“Upon accepting my position, I was made aware that there was a lot on the docket here at the town this coming year,” said Mr. Quinlan. “It was not an exaggeration, great things are happening and I am excited to be included in the process. There is no time for walking, must hit the ground running. Luckily, we have a fantastic fitness centre and amenities to aid in the process!”
“It takes a great team to get things done, everyone doing their part and it all comes together. Fortunate to be a part of the team,” added Mr. Quinlan.
As was reported previously, Mr. Quinlan brings a strong background in both the public and private sectors, having spent nine years working in municipal government and most recently as Operations Manager at Split Rail Brewing Company.
Mayor Ron Lane had stated previously in a release, “We’re thrilled to welcome Jason to the role. He is someone who not only brings valuable experience, but also lives on the Island, knows Gore Bay well, and is committed to staying for the long term. We are confident he’ll be an excellent fit for our community and for the future of the town. We also extend a sincere thanks to Harry Schlange for his service and leadership.”
At its meeting last week, council also hired Harry Schlange as a special advisor to council until the end of the year. “Harry has been so intricately involved in so many projects, such as the downtown revitalization project and future planning, we are keeping Harry on as a special advisor until the end of the year.” Mayor Lane told The Expositor.
