Assiginack events coordinator calls it a day

MANITOWANING—At a meeting last week Assiginack township council accepted the resignation of arena manager/events coordinator Jackie White.

“This is certainly going to be a loss to the community,” stated Deputy Mayor Dwayne Elliott. “Jackie has been a great asset to the community.”

“I will miss working with the community,” Ms. White told The Expositor. “I am really going to miss all the kids, adults and seniors in the community. You have no idea how good everyone in the community has been to me.”

Ms. White has been the Assiginack arena manager/events coordinator for the past 10 years and said that she has enjoyed her work over the years. “When I have needed any type of help, all I have had to do is ask the community. I will even have people who are going to Sudbury call me to ask if there is anything I need there, and say they will pick it up for me.”

“The Assiginack Minor Hockey Association is one of the many groups I’ve worked with over the years. They are so good to work with,” said Ms. White. “Everyone in the community has been awesome. I know all of the kids from school (Assiginack Public School) and at the arena for hockey and other sports, and they don’t just say hello when I see them. They stop and engage in a conversation. The community has been awesome.”

“I have always been very supportive of Jackie’s programming in her job. She also had so many good activities for everyone to take part in, which is good for physical fitness and good mental health,” added Councillor Elliott.
