Spring is a busy time for MSS, and there are lots of exciting updates to share!
First up, the Spring Formal is quickly approaching. This year’s formal will be held on May 9, and tickets are now on sale. Tickets cost $10 for one or $15 for two, so bring a date! The theme for this year’s dance is “Night at the Carnival,” a choice voted on by the student body through a Google Form sent out a few weeks ago. The evening will be filled with carnival-themed decorations, music, dancing, and plenty of fun memories. Tickets will be sold at school and at the door.
Voting for the Yearbook Hall of Fame is also underway. Students have the opportunity to recognize classmates by voting in a variety of exciting categories. This year’s categories include: Most Likely to Be Famous, Most Likely to Be a Millionaire, Most Energetic, Most Sporty, Most Involved, Best Dressed, Best Singer, Best Dancer, Best Hair, Smartest, Kindest, Class Clown. The winners will get their photos featured in this year’s yearbook.
Last week, MSS celebrated Earth Day with many activities. Classes took time out of their schedules to participate in a garbage clean-up around the school property, helping to make the schoolyard cleaner and more beautiful. In addition to the clean-up, there were several environmentally-friendly events, including Vegetarian Day, where students brought plant-based meals, and Eco Clothing Day, where students were encouraged to wear thrifted and recycled clothes. Participation in these Earth Day events earned students tickets to a movie buyout on Friday, April 25.
Spring also marks the beginning of the track and field season. Practices are starting shortly, and athletes are already training in preparation for upcoming meets like pre-NSSSA (North Shore Secondary Sports Association) and NSSSA. Events will include sprints, distance running, relays, long jump, triple jump, shot put, discus, and more.
That is all for this week! Until next time, go, Mustangs, go!
