Dinghy sailor association plans to circle the Island July 5 from Little Current

MANITOULIN—Members and friends of the Can-Am Dinghy Cruising Association are planning Manitoulin 250, a circumnavigation of Manitoulin Island starting on July 5 and departing and ending in Little Current for a (roughly, depending on craft, weather and route) 10-day sail.

The event is promoted as “an informal small boat challenge” and it is being hosted by the Can-Am Dinghy Cruising Association. The vessels taking part are “trailorable” (that’s 15’ to 20’).

According to their Facebook sire, the Can-Am Dinghy Cruising Association “is a group of Dinghy cruisers—mostly focused on boats under 20 feet including open boats such as Wayfarers as well as pocket cruisers like Sirens or West Weight Potters. Many members are in the Ontario region – we organize local events in Georgian Bay, the North Channel as well as smaller lakes. Trips vary from day sails to weekend or weeklong events. We are a very inclusive group and are happy to welcome members from all regions!”
