LITTLE CURRENT—On Friday night, November 7, a group of curling enthusiasts gathered at the Little Current Curling Club to party, fundraise and give Jordan Chandler and his team a great send off. As winners of the Northern Ontario Championships, the Chandler rink will be heading to the Granite Curling Club in Winnipeg, where, their website boasts, “The nation’s finest club curlers are sliding into town!”
“No one from Little Current has ever won the Northern Ontario Championships before,” Mr. Chandler said. Clearly, he, as skip, is excited to be heading to the Nationals, as are the members of his team, which includes his brother, vice Kyle Chandler, second Ron McQuarrie and lead Jim Bickell.
Winnipeg’s Granite Curling Club will play host to the 2025 Canadian Curling Club Championships. It’s an iconic curling facility with more than 110 years of history and popularly known as the Mother Club for curling in Winnipeg.

Little Current’s curling club was packed with well-wishers on Friday night. There was a charge at the door and there were raffles and all money raised goes to the team to defray their costs as they head to the championships. Tables were laden with prizes – all donated for the cause, an indication of the pride the community has in the Jordan Chandler rink. All of Manitoulin wishes them well, November 19 to the 22.
