MANITOWANING—Councils for Assiginack and the Town of Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands are in support of the Compass Greenfield Development solar project—a 110-acre wind farm proposed for the Manitoulin East Municipal Airport property.

“It was great that we all had the chance to sit in on the presentation (made by Compass Greenfield),” stated Assiginack Mayor Brenda Reid. “It was pretty interesting, and if it brings money to the (Manitoulin East Airport) I am all in favour of it.”

“I think it will a great revenue stream and subsidize development in the area and benefit both municipalities,” said Councillor Dwayne Elliott.
