No serious injuries reported following two-vehicle collision

GORDON – A serious two vehicle crash took place at the intersection of Highways 540 and 542 just outside of Gore Bay, recently. 

The Manitoulin detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) reports that the collision took place on Sunday, December 29, 2019, and involved two pick-up trucks. One vehicle was travelling northbound on Highway 542, and the second vehicle was eastbound on Highway 540. The driver of the vehicle travelling northbound on Highway 542 stopped for the stop sign at the corner but then proceeded into the intersection, where the two vehicles collided.

The OPP reports there were no injuries in the mishap, although both drivers were transported to hospital. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage. 

The driver of the vehicle travelling northbound on Highway 542, a 62-year-old man from Gore Bay was charged under 142(2) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) with start from parked position not in safety.
