The cruise industry in Little Current continues to struggle post-pandemic, with only two ships scheduled for five total stops this year. The Pearl Mist will visit three times starting July 3, while the luxury yacht Le Bellot arrives twice in August, using tenders to bring guests ashore.
LITTLE CURRENT—The cruise industry was touted as a new revenue stream with great potential a decade ago, but the Island’s cadre of visiting vessels has yet to recover from the challenges of the global epidemic. This year two ships will be visiting the Port of Little Current, the 102 metre Pearl Mist and the 131 metre Le Bellot for a total of five stops between them.
Le Bellot is a luxury expedition yacht operated by Ponant. It was launched in 2020 as the fifth member of the Ponant Explorers class and is designed to access remote, smaller ports that larger vessels cannot reach. It has a passenger capacity of
184 guests in 92 staterooms. The ship boasts approximately 110 crew and features ‘The Blue Eye Lounge;’ the world’s first multi-sensory underwater lounge which allows guests to view and hear marine life below the waterline.
