Public encouraged to take part in UCCM Police Stuff-a-Cruiser event for Manitoulin Food Bank

MANITOULIN—The United Chiefs and Councils Anishnaabe Police Service (UCCM APS) is holding its annual ‘Stuff the Cruiser’ food and toy drive.

“We have been holding the stuff a cruiser event for quite a few years,” said Sergeant Dave Mack of the UCCM APS, last week. “We are encouraging people who wish to donate, to provide non-perishable food items, toys for children and clothes.”

Sergeant Constable Mack explained, “Everything that is collected will be going to the Manitoulin Family Resources (MFR) food bank.”

Local people were able to drop off items beginning in November, and this will continue until December 10-12 when all the items will be collected. Items can be dropped off at the following collection sites: UCCM Police Station, UCCMM Tribal Council office, Kenjgewin Teg, Ojibwe Cultural Foundation, Noojmowin Teg, Mnaamodzawin, and the Aundeck Omni Kaning, M’Chigeeng, Sheguiandah, Sheshegwaning, Zhiibaahaasing and Whitefish River First Nation band offices. These locations have drop off boxes set up.

Sergeant Mack said, “we also hold one collection of items in conjunction with EMS and OPP (which was held at Island Foodland in Mindemoya last Friday), with all the food and toy items going to the MFR food bank.”
