MONTREAL—Canada Post has said that home mail delivery will continue along rural roads with individual roadside mailboxes to continue to receive home mail delivery for the time being.

The Crown corporation recently announced that delivery to about four million addresses will be sent to community mailboxes instead, with the changes expected to take around five years. This is part of a plan that also includes phasing out some post offices.

Canada Post explained about 700,000 homes have rural mailboxes, accounting for approximately four percent of the 17.8 million addresses served by the corporation.
