Pastors’ Island-wide backpack program gets an ice cream boost

LITTLE CURRENT—The Manitoulin pastors Island-Wide Backpack program has received a significant donation from 3 Cows and a Cone through their generous customers’ donations.

Judith Wright, at 3 Cows and a Cone located in Little Current, told The Expositor on Wednesday of last week, “Our fantastic customers have helped by making donations in the amount of $720 towards the backpack program through our fundraising campaign August 1-5.”

“In support of the backpack program, we are collecting donations to assist the churches raise their $6,000 goal which will go towards purchasing 362 backpacks and school supplies (to make sure no students on the Island start the next school year without the essentials).” 

Ms. Wright explained that 3 Cows and a Cone owner, “Phil (Blake) had seen the article in The Expositor August 30 that the church is trying to raise $6,000 for students to get backpacks, and that it would be nice to support this program somehow and add to the cause. We contacted Pastor Jamie Greenwood (Spring Bay Pentecostal Church) to get approval to hold our fundraiser.”

“Our customers are always generous and willing to help,” added Ms. Wright.

Pastor Greenwood, in an update on the fundraising campaign last week said, “we’re excited to share that we’ve now raised $2,380, almost halfway to our $6,000 goal! With just over three weeks until school starts, we’re getting closer to blessing 393 student across Manitoulin with backpacks and school supplies they need to start the year strong.”

“A huge thank you to everyone who has already contributed, your generosity is making a real difference. Let’s keep the momentum going,” added Pastor Greenwood.
