Fundraising excursion to Louisa will support Manitoulin Family Resources

MANITOULIN—The need for support for Manitoulin Family Resources (MFR) has rarely been greater and thanks to Step Up for Manitoulin, a fundraising partnership between Rolston Realty and North Channel Cruise Lines, everyone has an opportunity to help, well, at least for those 100 guests who will be aboard the Grand Heron cruise to Louisa Island on August 23.

“Rolston Realty is the presenting sponsor for the MFR fundraiser on August 23,” said Steve Rolston. “All proceeds raised will go to MFR. Rolston Realty is very proud to be part of this initiative. MFR is an outstanding cause. Here at Rolston Realty, we pride ourselves on honesty and integrity and being involved in local fundraising is just another way in which Rolston’s has been giving back to Manitoulin for over 50 years. Many real estate brokerages have come and gone over the decades, but Rolston’s is locally owned and operated and your money stays on the Island when you deal with the team at Rolston Realty. Whether it is your children’s hockey team or the annual Haweater Weekend, Rolston Realty has always been there for Manitoulin.”

“We’re going to whisk a hundred guests to Louisa Island,” said Meredith Morris, chair of MFR’s fundraising committee.. “While on route to Louisa, there’s a beautiful prime rib on a bun dinner with summer salads and there’s going to be live entertainment.”

That live entertainment is traditional roots, Latin, classical, blues, jazz performer Ricardo Chávez, who may be familiar to Manitoulin Islanders from his performances at Ribfest and the Providence Bay Sunset Series.

“Once we get to Louisa, a private island owned by North Channel Cruise Lines, we’re going to be dazzled by Island Time dancing with Joe and Beth,” said Ms. Morris. “They will whisk us under the big party tent that Chris (Blodgett, owner of the cruise line) has set up. They’re going to be doing line dancing lessons and then, on the way back, we will watch the sunset. There will be a cheese and fruit course while we watch the sunset and listen to more live entertainment as we pull into the town docks and Little Current.”

The entire cruise lasts four and a half hours, with boarding taking place at 4 pm on the Port of Little Current waterfront.

Meal options on the cruise will also include a grilled veggies on a bun and both the prime rib and veggie options will include sides of watermelon and feta salad, corn salad and spring potato salad.

Cost for the Step Up for Manitoulin cruise is a manageable $150 plus HST and tickets can be booked at
